Geology and Palaeontology
Geology and Palaeontology are great passions for us, and we specialize in offering these. South Africa is very rich in its geological history, spanning from 3.4 Billion Years ago to as resent as 5 Million Years Ago. The Western Cape is blessed with fascinating geological features and mountains, offering many opportunities to experience, interact with and learn about geological processes and rock formation. The Western Cape, though not endowed with an exceptional rich fossil abundance, does offer some very special fossils and fossil sites. The Great Karoo Region of South Africa is home though to the exceptional fossil preservation, and sites of the biodiversity of the Permian Period, 290 to 250 million years ago. NB. All fossils in South Africa are strictly protected by law and no one may collect or remove any fossils with permission and supervisions by qualified professionals. We will though, with special permission, visiting some of these sites and fossils enroute our tours.
